Suggested trip lengths and day groupings below are our editorial starting points. Your personalized plan will depend on your interests, pace, and dates.
Four days for distinct neighborhoods
We suggest four days for Buenos Aires, adding time for a regional or cross-river excursion. Choose a mix of history, art, food, and an evening experience. Several city tours covering the same central landmarks rarely provide as much variety as a separate neighborhood.
Group the historic center and San Telmo
Plan the Plaza de Mayo area and San Telmo as one broad focus. Give Recoleta another cultural block, and Palermo time for parks or dining. Leave transfers visible; these neighborhoods are not consecutive short stops on a single pedestrian street.
Choose the base around your evenings
Compare Palermo’s dining areas with Recoleta or a more central stay according to your priorities. Check the actual transport connection and airport used by your flight. Buenos Aires has different airports, and the arrival journey affects what is realistic that day.
Choose the tango experience you want
A stage show, dinner-and-show package, lesson, and social dance venue are different experiences. Compare the inclusions and return arrangements. If a show finishes late, keep the following morning moderate rather than booking a distant early pickup.
Browse these experiences as a starting point. The planner considers your interests, pace, and published schedules when building your days.
