Planning notes by The Travel Insights · Updated 2026-09-10

Suggested trip lengths and day groupings below are our editorial starting points. Your personalized plan will depend on your interests, pace, and dates.

How much time to allow

Start with a week for Copenhagen and one other Danish region. Add time for a broader island-and-Jutland route rather than moving hotels every night.

Choose a connected route

Copenhagen and nearby Zealand sights form one focus. Funen and Jutland offer different city, coastal, and family outings. Bornholm needs a separate transport plan.

Where to base yourself

Use city bases with good connections and choose rural accommodation around the activities you want. An island stay depends on the arrival port or airport, not just its scenery.

Before booking

Confirm seasonal attractions and ferry arrangements. Compare a theme-park day with a brief town visit when allocating time. A regional pass is useful only if its included places fit your actual route.
