How much time to allow

A week suits a focused mainland route. Galápagos deserves a separate multi-day block with its own flights, boats, and entry arrangements.

Choose a connected route

Choose Quito and nearby Andean outings or another mainland region, then add the islands only with adequate time. Galápagos is not a coastal day trip.

Where to base yourself

Stay near your mainland activity area and choose island accommodation according to the excursions available from that island. Inter-island connections consume usable sightseeing time.

Before booking

Confirm current park procedures and the exact itinerary of a cruise or land-based visit. Leave buffers for transport and check the exertion involved in altitude, snorkeling, and walking activities.
