Planning notes by The Travel Insights · Updated 2026-09-10

Suggested trip lengths and day groupings below are our editorial starting points. Your personalized plan will depend on your interests, pace, and dates.

How many days in Florence?

We suggest three full days, or four for an art-focused stay. A short visit should prioritize the collections you most want to see. A Tuscany excursion takes a separate day away from Florence.

Split the major museum visits

Choose the Uffizi and Accademia on different parts of the stay if both matter to you. Leave room for the historic center around them. Compare combined tickets and guided products before purchasing overlapping access.

Keep the riverside and Oltrarno together

An Arno crossing and time in Oltrarno can provide a change from museum interiors. We would pair that area with food or craft interests instead of another long gallery booking.

Choose a base for walking and arrival

Compare station access with the streets you will revisit each evening. Ask about steps and luggage access at historic properties. Keep a timed museum reservation clear of your arrival train.
