Planning notes by The Travel Insights · Updated 2026-09-10

Suggested trip lengths and day groupings below are our editorial starting points. Your personalized plan will depend on your interests, pace, and dates.

Three days, plus any major excursion

Allow three days for Ho Chi Minh City’s history, streets, and food. Add another day for a substantial trip beyond the center. A Mekong Delta itinerary and a Cu Chi visit have different routes and should not be treated as equivalent short add-ons.

Keep central history in one block

Choose the War Remnants Museum and a restrained nearby city outing, allowing time to absorb the exhibits. Give another neighborhood or a food-focused experience its own block. Cu Chi is outside the center and needs the full pickup-to-return allowance.

Choose a central base with a precise address

District 1 can suit a short first visit, while nearby areas may offer a different evening atmosphere. Compare the actual meeting point and traffic-sensitive transfer. Ask whether collection is at the hotel or a central office.

Check the physical demands and content

For tunnel visits, confirm which sections are included and whether entering confined spaces is optional. Historical exhibits may be emotionally demanding. Leave an unstructured meal or rest afterward rather than immediately following with another long guided activity.
