Four days across distinct districts

Allow four days for Istanbul’s historic core, markets, and time on the water or Asian side. Add a day if you want several major interiors. Avoid treating the city as a list of monuments that can all be visited between meals.

Keep the old-city day compact

Build one day around Sultanahmet’s landmarks and a separate block around Eminönü and the Spice Bazaar. Galata and Karaköy offer a contrasting outing. A crossing to Kadıköy works better with time to explore than as a hurried ferry round trip.

Choose your side of the city

Sultanahmet is convenient for a first history-focused stay; Karaköy can suit a mix of districts. Compare walking slopes and public-transport connections. Check which airport you use before committing to arrival-day plans; transfers should have their own allowance.

Check access at religious landmarks

Confirm current visitor entrances and arrangements for each religious site, and allow for worship and security procedures. For a Bosphorus cruise, compare route length, pier, and any stops ashore. A sightseeing cruise and a public ferry offer different experiences.
