How much time to allow
Seven to ten days allow Amman, Petra, and Wadi Rum with time for a selected extension. A shorter route should reduce stops rather than compress walking days.
Choose a connected route
Group Amman and nearby heritage, then continue toward Petra and the desert. Aqaba or the Dead Sea can provide a distinct slower block.
Where to base yourself
Stay near Petra for an early walking start and confirm the transfer into a desert camp. A remote camp’s map position does not show the full arrival process.
Before booking
Check current regional advice and the exertion involved at each site. Confirm what a desert stay includes, and leave rest time around long walking or driving days.
