Suggested trip lengths and day groupings below are our editorial starting points. Your personalized plan will depend on your interests, pace, and dates.
How many days in London?
Our starting recommendation is four full days for a first visit, or five when museums and slower neighborhood exploration are priorities. Three works with a selective list. Count day trips outside London separately; each removes a day from the city rather than fitting into unused space around it.
Divide the city into manageable days
Use Westminster and the nearby Thames as one possible focus, and the Tower area as another. Keep a museum day selective and choose the collections you actually want to see. We would avoid crossing the city repeatedly just to follow a list ordered by fame rather than location.
Plan the evening before filling the afternoon
If a West End show is a priority, leave time to travel, eat, and reach the theater. Do not choose a distant excursion solely because its advertised finish seems to leave a narrow gap. Compare ticket conditions and avoid booking another product that includes the same performance or attraction.
Choose transport convenience over a central label
Check the walk to a useful station and the route to your main bookings before selecting accommodation. Airport transfers belong in the arrival and departure plan, not in sightseeing time. Compare any sightseeing pass with the visits you genuinely intend to make, including reservation requirements, rather than assuming more inclusions mean better value.
Browse these experiences as a starting point. The planner considers your interests, pace, and published schedules when building your days.
