Three or four days for the wider city

Allow three or four days for Delhi’s historic districts, major monuments, and food. This guide uses the New Delhi destination for a visit that can include Old Delhi. Add separate time for Agra rather than treating it as another local attraction.

Group monuments by area

Keep Old Delhi’s streets and heritage in one block. Humayun’s Tomb and Qutub Minar are in different parts of the city, so allow a real transfer between them or visit on separate days. A shorter list leaves room to appreciate each site.

Choose your base by transport and evenings

Compare central accommodation near a useful metro connection with other neighborhoods around your priorities. Verify the actual railway station and airport terminal on your tickets. Leave a generous arrival allowance before a fixed walking-tour departure.

Check the pace of guided tours

Read how much time is spent walking, driving, and inside monuments. Confirm admission and religious-site visitor arrangements. A full-city overview may be useful for orientation but is not equivalent to an in-depth visit at every landmark listed in its description.
