Suggested trip lengths and day groupings below are our editorial starting points. Your personalized plan will depend on your interests, pace, and dates.
Two or three days beyond the medieval core
Allow two days for Old Town and one contrasting area, or three for museums and more neighborhoods. A ferry connection day should remain lighter. Extra time is best used beyond the central walking circuit rather than several tours repeating it.
Split the upper and lower town comfortably
Explore the medieval streets and viewpoints at a pace that allows for hills and cobbles. Give Kadriorg’s palace-and-art area a separate block. Kalamaja provides another perspective through its wooden streets and creative surroundings.
Choose the luggage route carefully
An Old Town base offers atmosphere, while accommodation just outside can simplify vehicle access. Check stairs and the walk from your arrival point. A ferry terminal is not the same as the old-town center, so include that transfer explicitly.
Choose museums by interest
Kadriorg and Kumu offer different art experiences; compare the collections before buying several admissions. For a maritime outing, verify the actual venue rather than assuming it is part of the same cultural district. Keep outdoor time flexible around conditions and seasonal daylight.
Browse these experiences as a starting point. The planner considers your interests, pace, and published schedules when building your days.
