Planning notes by The Travel Insights · Updated 2026-09-10
Suggested trip lengths and day groupings below are our editorial starting points. Your personalized plan will depend on your interests, pace, and dates.
How much time to allow
Seven to ten days work well for one region or two connected cities. A country-wide route needs more time, especially when islands are included.
Choose a connected route
Choose an Andalusian circuit, a Madrid-centered cultural trip, or Barcelona and nearby Catalonia. The Balearic and Canary Islands are separate transport decisions.
Where to base yourself
Stay close to urban transport for major cities and consider a separate coastal or rural base for several relaxed days. Old-town access can complicate driving and luggage.
Before booking
Reserve major monuments and compare regional travel times before choosing activities. Leave space for meals and neighborhoods. Several long day trips can turn an apparently relaxed city stay into continuous transfers.
Browse these experiences as a starting point. The planner considers your interests, pace, and published schedules when building your days.
